Frequently Asked Questions about funeral arrangements.
1) When will our casket arrive?
Depending on your location our deliveries can arrive in a couple hours.
Our shippers are the best in the business. Orders placed and paid for before 10am EST ship same day. Otherwise if an order is placed and paid for after 10am EST it ships out next day. Expedited service is available for an additional fee.
2) I like one of your caskets. How do I order?
Ordering online is easy. If you place an order online, worry not, we will be contacting you with an order confirmation and shipping number for tracking purposes within minutes of being notified of your pending order. OR just call us 24/7 at 626-600-2705 and we can walk through it together leaving no stone unturned. It takes about 5 minutes.
3) How do I pay?
We accept most major credit cards and debit cards through our PayPal Verified portal. Paypal is the easiest and safest way to do business online. PayPal takes your credit card information, contact phone number, email address as well as “ship to” information and forwards this confirmation to Regency Casket Co. We never touch your private information. Call us for assistance sending money by Western Union or by bank wire.
4) How well are your caskets packed?
Firstly the casket is palletized. The casket has large. 3-inch thick Styrofoam caps that completely cover the ends of the casket and then a cardboard box is placed over the top of the whole casket. In addition we place sideboards around the casket box to resist the harshest handling.
5) When do I tell the funeral home I am buying our own casket?
NEVER mention that your are interested in supplying your own casket UNTIL you have received an estimate from the funeral home. At that point it is as simple as striking through and deducting the funeral home’s CASKET Price Amount. The FTC has ruled that this means “No questions asked” and you can not be charged for any special handling. Period.
6) Do you sell to the funeral homes?
7) How long can the body be kept at the funeral home?
Funeral homes have refrigeration to help preserve the body beyond 30 days if necessary. Due to out of town family travel, it often takes a few days to orchestrate some funerals. Often, visitation is 2 to7 days after the actual death.
8) Free Shipping?
Destinations within a 30 mile radius of our City of Industry, CA. showroom are free. Depending on the destination the shipping charges go up incrementally. Even so, Regency Casket Company is an excellent value and we have many satisfied customers. It is very important to consider transit time restraints before a crisis arises.
9) Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is charged to California customers only. Your local funeral home in your state will charge you the normal local sales tax after markup when you buy the casket from them.
10) What is an oversized casket?
Average casket dimensions are 23.5 inches by 79 inches (6 ft. 7 in.) A 6 ft. man weighing approximately 245 pounds will fit in an average casket. The oversized casket has an inside width dimension of 27.5 inches. An oversized casket will accomodate larger bodies. Generally those over 300 pounds require an oversized casket. Both caskets sizes fit into a vault. Your mortician will advise you if you need an oversized casket.
11) What is the difference between 18-gauge and 20-gauge caskets?
Gauge refers to the thickness of the metal. The smaller the number the thicker the metal. 18 Gauge is about 30% thicker metal than the 20 gauge. The heavier the metal the more it will cost. 18 gauge is 1.27 mm thick while 20 gauge is .953 mm thick. Our 18-gauge caskets weigh 210 pounds and our 20-gauge caskets weigh 200 pounds.
12) Can you store a casket for us?
Yes. When a casket is actually needed comes with much uncertainty. We are happy to hold caskets for a few weeks if necessary.
13) When are you open?
You are welcome to visit our showroom by appointment Monday – Friday. Weekends and holidays by appointment.
14) Will the funeral home mistreat my family for not purchasing their $4500 casket?
Realizing that the funeral home industry had a virtual monopoly on the whole business, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enacted a law giving consumers the choice of where to buy a casket. Henceforth, funeral homes are required by law to give you an itemized list over the phone and in person including a separate line item for the casket. You can then choose to remove any item including the $4500 steel casket from the list and buy an affordable priced casket from us. Visit the FTC Consumer Information Page.
